Natalie Groome

Senior Nurse

Natalie Groome - Senior Nurse
Natalie Groome RVN Senior Nurse

Natalie joined Vale Vets and Referrals in 2006 as a hospital assistant before undertaking her student veterinary nurse training, qualifying in 2013. She has undertaken a variety of roles, including deputy head nurse in 2015 and head nurse in 2017. Since 2020, Natalie has become an integral part of the senior nursing team.

Natalie’s main passion is working within our first opinion team, particularly on elective surgeries, but from time to time she joins the referral surgery nursing team. Her favourite aspects of nursing include being clinical lead, where she is responsible for organising the team and dealing with emergencies. Natalie is the team leader for our student veterinary nurses being the point of contact for them, their college and their clinical coaches within the hospital. Some of her other responsibilities include ordering, stock control and overseeing the nursing aspects of our first opinion department. Natalie is also one of our first aiders and fire marshals.

One of the many reasons Natalie loves being a veterinary nurse is her love of animals, the different characters they have and being able to care for them like they are her own. She also loves the variety of our caseload, the standard of care given to every patient, and she’s inspired by the work that’s put into the running of the hospital.

Outside of work, Natalie enjoys attending local exercise classes including netball and spending time with family and friends.
