Michal qualified from the Veterinary University in Brno, former Czechoslovakia in 1992. Following graduation, he continued his postgraduate surgery at the same school and after that, he became Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor of the same school. He attended PhD studies at McMaster University Hamilton, On, Canada (2000). He did his ECVS (European College of Veterinary Surgeons) residency in Vienna (2014). He was appointed as Head of Dogs and Cats Clinic at University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno (2009 – 2010). Then, he moved to private practice and had been working as Surgeon in-chief at Jaggy Small Animal Referral Hospital (Brno and Prague) until 2017, when he became a Senior Clinical Staff Surgeon at Cambridge University (Queen`s Veterinary School Hospital). He moved his clinical activities to Vale Referrals in October 2018.

Michal accepts cases in all areas of Soft Tissue Surgery and Orthopaedics. He speaks on his subject area nationally and internationally and has published widely in clinical and scientific journals. He holds post graduate qualifications in Small Animal Surgery, Haematology, Microsurgery and Medical Education.

Michal lives in Berkeley and enjoys hiking, playing football and golf, as well as ice hockey.
