Our Dermatology referral service is headed by Peri Lau-Gillard DrMedVet CertVD DipECVD MRCVS, RCVS and European Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology supported by our team of qualified and experienced nurses.
We specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair, ear and nail diseases in domestic animals, largely dogs and cats. This will include allergies and chronic skin conditions and our diagnostic tests include intradermal testing for allergen-specific immunotherapy, cytology, histopathology, cultures, video-otoscopy and middle ear flushing.
Most cases of skin disease are somewhat chronic in nature and require management rather than cure. In cases where a patient has a more complex disease, we are able to offer co-management with our Internal Medicine team, Myra Stevenson and our Surgery team, Alasdair Hotston Moore and Richard Artingstall.
Referral cases usually have an initial consultation of 1 hour 30 minutes and may have follow up visits depending upon the nature of the skin disease. Following the initial consultation a written report will be shared with the owner so the recommendations can be discussed with the referring vet. Urgent cases with severe skin disease may merit early discussion with Peri before arranging an appointment.
