Vale Referrals Launches Ophthalmology Service in Wales Vale Referrals, a multidisciplinary referral hospital based in Dursley, Gloucestershire, is expanding its ophthalmology service due to increased demand.

Starting on Tuesday 23rd January, Brian Patterson BVM&S Cert VOphthal MRCVS from Vale Referrals, will attend Summerhill Vets in Newport, Wales, between 14:00 – 17:00 every Tuesday. This satellite clinic will provide patients with the opportunity to receive expert care, locally. If advanced diagnostics and/or surgery is recommended, then patients will be admitted to Vale Referrals for further investigations or treatment.

Brian Patterson BVM&S Cert VOphthal MRCVS, Head of Ophthalmology at Vale Referrals, said: “I’m really looking forward to setting up the clinic at Summerhill Vets and working with the excellent team there. Ophthalmology cases can be complex and it’s always best for pets to receive prompt and effective care. Through the clinic at Summerhill Vets I will be able to extend the comprehensive service provided at Vale Referrals to patients in Wales.”

The ophthalmology service is aimed at the diagnosis and management of ocular and intraocular conditions, ranging from assessment of non-healing ulcers to the complex intraocular management of cataracts. The team at Vale Referrals can accept cases in multiple disciplines at their state-of-theart RCVS accredited hospital and are on hand to offer support and advice to 1st opinion colleagues.

Vale Referrals is a 24/7, multidisciplinary hospital which recently underwent a £2m expansion which saw the hospital footprint increase by 30% with three new operating theatres, six new consult rooms and ISFM gold standard feline facilities, including a cat-only waiting room, consult room and treatment area.
